Hi,

Since updating my WordPress to 2.8 Extended Category Widget wont work.....

I get the following error (path delibrately excluded for security reasons)

Warning: Missing argument 2 for wp_widget() in /******/myblog/wp-includes/widgets.php on line 76

Any thoughts?

I have temporarily deactivated ECW for the moment

Meant to add what plugins am using - ECW worked fine before update....

hi, i've got the same problem here, then, i've installed version of AVH 2.3.1 and i didn't get that error anymore, but i'm unable to find the place where to select categories to display. in AVH Extended Top and also in the other widget, the place to insert the categories to show has disappeared..
any suggestion?

What do you see when you add the widget to a sidebar and open the widget?

In the top categories you can not select categories. In your case it will show the top 5 of all categories.
What does the screen look like for the other widget?

this is the only other one widget connected with showing categories, it slooks like the standard one, but i don't have any other widget to select, even after removing all the plugin and making a fresh new installation..

That is the standard one.
So for some reason you don't see the widget AVH Extended Categories. You do see the widget AVH Extended Categories Top.
Are their any other widgets missing? The way the widgets are setup in AVH Extended Categories is identical to each other so I'm not sure why you are missing one widget.

hi, actually i don't have any other missing widget, i can try again to disinstall all the plugin, remove all the files from ftp and then reinstall it again, if you think this could be a solution.
It has all started when i updated the plugin and got that error mentioned by ejrodgers, i've deactivated the widget but not the whole plugin, then when i've uploaded the plugin again, i found that situation in the widget section; i haven't touched anything more as far as i can remember..

Upgrading the plugin in WP28, if you do it through the admin interface, does delete the plugin from your server and installs it again.

Can you shoot me an email through my contact form on my blog. I want to send you a new version of the plugin. I just noticed something different between the top and the normal widget.

I'm having similar symptoms to the original poster. However, I followed a different set of steps to end up here.

I've been updating WP automatically for the last few revisions and everything has gone smoothly. I'm currently running WP version 2.8.5 and AVH-Ext-Cats version 2.0.3. If i try to upgrade the plugin (either automatically or manually) the plugin looses my widget settings and the regular AVH Extended Categories widget disappears from the available widgets (and inactive widgets for that matter). The new AVH Top Cats widget is available for use, but the regular one is nonexistent. Then, if I try to downgrade to the older version that I had been using, I can't recover the widget or settings.

I'd like to upgrade to the newer version, but I can't do so if the upgrade magically makes the widget disappear. For reference, I'm also usign the following plugins:
- Flexi Pages Widget
- Anarchy Media Player
- Custom Post Templates
- Dagon Design Form Mailer
- Gigs Calendar
- Google XML Sitemaps
- Revision Control
- Sensitive Tag Cloud
- Twitter for Wordpress

Any thoughts?

hello, i'm still dealing with the same problem as before, i cannot see the AVH Extended category widget, but only the AVH Top Category widget...
any solution possible?
