Extended Catgory Widget
« on: March 12, 2008, 12:20:46 AM »
Hello Peter:

I just downloaded and installed your extend category widget.

When I activated it, it shows up but there aren't any counts and I can't see how to manae any of the features mentioned.

I'm sure I'm doing something wrong, I just can figure out what.

Can you help me out?

Thanks, :D

Nevermind, I just figured out what the icon is on the plugis (the one to the right).

I'm new at this, but I learn fast.  What terrific support you offer!  Just asking you the question gave m the answer.  :lol:

I am yet to figure this out. Peter could you help? I couldn't see how to configure to see the category count within (). Also I want to block categories which do not have any posts. Where to configure it? I activtated, But there is no link at the Options section for property settings.

Apart from that, Do you have feature to show NEW! after the category name when it has some new posts inside?

Thanks.

You can configure all the setting in the widget itself.
Go to Presentation -> Widgets
Click on the icon next to "Extended Categories" and you'll be able to set the properties.
The options speak for themselves.

The *NEW* after the categories isn't an option right now.

I use the core function to display the categories and it's not an option there.

Maybe I can look into the option to use a separate function instead of the core one to dispkay the categories and then I'll be able to expand it.

for WP 2.5.1 it's Design-> Widgets.

I apologize for the late reaction but I have been without a computer for a while.

Hello,

this is what I am trying to figure out. how does your widget plugin determine which categories to show when you select a number of categories to show?

for example, I have four parent categories but if I enter 4 in the field for number of categories, only two parent categories show up and two subcategories (i.e. parent category is Size and subcategory would be 6,7,8,9,10 but only subcategory "9" would show up, not the parent category Size).

Any input you can give me would be muchacho appreciado.

I can not see where I select the categories to show either.  I see all the other options like sorting by id, etc. Is there supposed to be a dropdown list of the categories to choose to display?  If so, I dont have it.  I am running 2.9
